I love mixing different textures when it comes to clothes. Leather & silk, cashmere & denim, cotton & wool are just a few of my favorite texture pairings! I love a pretty silk blouse under a leather jacket but am even more in love with a silk dress underneath a leather jacket. It puts an edgy twist on something very feminine. A great cashmere sweater worn over a pair of jeans is an easy comfortable outfit that mixes casual with luxurious. Pairing a long wool cardigan or coat over a cotton dress allows you to keep warm but if you get too warm then unbutton or take off your outerwear and voila you have a breathable dress right underneath! Putting different textures together can take your outfit to the next level because this almost guarantees that your outfit will not be boring. Mixing more than just two textures together in an outfit is even better! Case in point this little outfit I put together. My printed dress is cotton, my plaid blazer is wool (and has the cutest polka dot lining that I love showing by rolling the sleeves) and my black heels are suede. Then I added a silky knot belt and a silver rocker-esque chain necklace. The variety of textures and the accessories make this outfit fab not drab. So get in your closet and start mixing and matching those textures!
